After a full year of successful testing I am happy to release my Strain Gauge Shift Knob. This shift knob has a built-in load cell and amplifier circuit that can interface with almost every programmable ECU to allow for a clutchless shifting. The load cell measure the effort applied to the shift knob in either direction and transmit this data to the ECU, then voltage limit can be set to trigger ignition cut for a fast gear change when used with dog box transmission.
The load cell need to be supplied with 5VDC from your ECU and will output 2.5V at rest. Pushing or pulling on the knob will vary the output voltage in either direction so you can fine tune when the ignition cut occurr. Output range is internally amplified from .5 to 4.5 VDC.
The shift knob top is CNC machined out of 6061-T6 aluminum, bright anodized (7 color choice available very soon, only black for now) and then laser etched. The knob lower body is made out of black Delrin, a light yet strong alternative to aluminum. This help keep the weight down while still offerring a good surface to hold. Another huge benefit of the lower delrin body is to prevent any false triggering due to vibration and harmonic of a heavier assembly. The center section that hold all the electronics is CNC machined out of 6061-T6 aluminum and clear anodized. The whole shifter assembly only weight 205g with 110g being the outer body.
These knob have a LIFETIME warranty for the original buyer. Each knob has a unique serial number laser etched on the load cell and I keep track of every one of them. The lower part of the load cell also has a laser etched arrow to help you orient the shifter. Several thread option are available. These are not thread adapter; I drill and tap every shifter to your required thread.
